Israeli turns 61

This year the JCC held the Yom Ha'atzmaut celebration at Hyde Park Village in Tampa along a 5K fun run/walk put on by our new group from the Young Adult Division of the JFed called Chai Impact. The group was formed earlier this year and this event was our kickoff. Our motto is "social live meets social action." Through monthly service projects consisting of varying interests, we hope participants will be friendly and social and give back to our community. Next month, we're hosting a Wii tournament with the seniors at Weinberg Village, the local Jewish Assisted Living. Plans are still in the works by your truly. We had about 75 people participate in our 5K run/walk. Participants received t-shirts and of course some bagels, shmear, muffins, coffee, and OJ this morning. Our sponsors included Sweetbay supermarkets, Indigo Coffee, Lifestyles Family Fitness, Publix Greenwise, and others. After the walk we had some games for the kids, falafel, music, and the local Jewish radio. I got to give them an interview. So yeah I was on radio star today!! I'm no Casey Kasim, but it was cool!
