to grandma's house i go.

I went to visit grandma last weekend... we had the pretty challah I made, a nice shabbat meal, went to services, did some running, went shopping, and ate dinner at Sweet Tomato (my fav). Everything was going so well...on Sunday I loaded up the car of course with tons of food (what Jewish grandma would let her grandchild leave empty handed) and headed onto the Fla Turnpike. Cruising in the left hand land, my car decided to decelerate to 45 mph all by itself. I was thinking omg my car is gonna die right here, I have to get over. How do you maneuver over when everyone else is going nearly twice your speed?? Luckily I was able to pull on the side of the road, but I didn't feel comfortable going another 200 or so miles not knowing what is wrong with my car. I got towed to a Pep Boys 30 miles north of Boca (in Fla squat is open in the afternoon). After 3 hrs of eagerly waiting to get back on the road and them not feeling very confident they knew what the problem was, of course my car decelerated again 12 miles later. This time it wouldn't start after I started it back up. So I got towed back to grandma's place. So after 7 hrs of attempting to get home I gave up. We took it to her trusty mechanic the next day and 1 day later problem fixed. When all was said and done, I lost 2 days of vacation, but got to spend a bit more time with grandma and even go to the church to play 4 hrs of bingo :p. I didn't win any big money but I did win grandma $10 towards her next game. My friend was able to make sure kitty had enough food and water- I was so worried she ran out. It'll def be a while before I made that big trip again. Word to the wise, have your car checked before you do any big trips especially if it has over 100,000 miles.
one for the record books...Grandma checking her email or maybe it's poker. I don't think many people her age do this...what a blessing :)
