While Mitch was working the weekend, I went to the National Cherry Blossom Festival in DC on March 31st. They had music, kite flying, and of course cherry blossoms. I first made stop to the Frederick Douglass house and got a personal tour. I love history especially when you can see it for yourself. He sure had a terrific view of the city from his house as you could see below. I then went to the Library of Congress. I walked over to the newly erected MLK memorial and strolled around the Washington Monument. Hundreds of people were out flying kites and listening to the music playing on the band stage. After walking nearly the whole day and not seeing any cherry blossoms because most of them have fallen off the trees already, I finally found a nice cluster to photograph.
