Cross Country Skiing and Purim

We hope everyone had a good weekend.  This weekend Mitch and I rented cross country skis to ski in the River valley where we live.  This is definitely a perk of living in a cold climate with a lot of snow and no mountains-great cross country skiing terrain.  We fell a lot (me a bit more gracefully than Mitch) but once we got the hang of it, it was really very simple.  Definitely a lot less scary than downhill skiing.  Very rarely did I have to go down hills, but when I did, they were small and manageable.  And it definitely gave us hell of a workout.  I was pretty sore for a couple of days as expected.  It was fun to try a new sport and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  I would definitely do it again sometime.  On Sunday we had a Purim carnival, schpiel, reading, and dinner.  It was a lot of fun to see all the cute costumes and just have a good time. Sorry no pictures of us in costumes.  We went as ourselves.  I did bake hamantaschen for a dinner we went to on Friday. They were the best I made.  They didn't come out like circular cookies with blobs of jelly.  SUCCESS!

sharing a lazy weekend
XC skiing within 15 minutes of our house

we skied along the River Valley..the snow is actually covering the frozen North Saskatchewan River

friendly bird along the way...spring is within reach

this was our second day of skiing at day break

a groomed trail is so much easier to ski on

looking like a pro (well most of the time)
