6 months without a post

My apologies for not updating this in a while.  Graduate school and life in general is keeping me very busy.  Now that I've finally purged my camera of pictures, I can finally post some here and share some stories.

Six months in the life of a toddler is significant.  From the last time I posted, Ian has gone from crawling and pulling up to walking and now running and babbling to uttering words and phrases.  He seems to go through phases of favorite words and objects.  When he first started to speak he was obsessed with balls, a few weeks ago it was outside, and now it's his new favorite phrase, bye bye!  I still get excited each time he makes associations between words and the actual thing he's talking about.  If my math is correct, he knows about 25-30 words.  He is fiercely independent wanting to feed himself with his forks and spoons and walk everywhere but there are times he surprises me by sitting on my lap, uttering "up" for me to hold him, and wanting to sit on the couch when I am.  He is such a loveable little boy but man does he have a fierce temper when he's upset or angry.  Don't even think about taking away a bowl before he thinks he's done or take him out of his crib without all his stuffed animals.

As for me, all is well.  I'm nearly done writing my thesis so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  I've started to crochet more (which is probably part of why I haven't blogged as much).  Spring was unbelievably mild this year so there was not much snow to melt.  The snow has been gone since early this month which is something I've not experienced since moving here.   Last week was Purim and our synagogue has a big dinner, Purim Schpiel, costume parade, and megillah reading.  Mitch was a good sport and was in the schpiel.  For all that know Mitch, you are probably thing "wow I didn't know he acted?"  Well he doesn't but kuddos to him for trying acting as well as dancing (and I use that term very lightly).  Ian and I got dressed up as bags of Jelly Belly jelly beans. I got the idea of a cute DIY website and didn't take me much time to prepare which is key as a full time graduate student and mom!

Until next time... but hopefully not as long as the last gap :)
