It's all Greek to Me

The summer has been very laid back for me...not to much going on. I am going on my Greece trip in a little over 2 weeks. I can't believe how fast time flies. With the help of the Internet and some great traveling books on loan from a friend, I am learning so much about it's people, culture, and landmarks. On the first day, I have nearly the entire day to myself so think I may go to the Jewish Museum. Did you know that Jews make up less than 1% of the Greek population? Most places seem to close at 2:30-3pm. I guess they do the siesta thing like in Mexico!! Greece apparently is a part of the EU. In Spanish class, we learned the US is called the EE.UU so I was thinking they must be talking about the US. Not so much!! FYI it stands for the European Union- a group of 27 countries of have formed a economical and political conglomerate. About half of these countries use the Euro as the currency including Greece which replaced the drachma which has been used since the 19th century. There are also nearly 1,400 Greek islands (I'm visiting 3 of the islands in the Cycladic region) in addition to Athens. Well that is your history lesson for the day.
