Last weekend I went on a photo shoot with some of the other more experienced photographers from the photo group I joined in Edmonton (Shutterbugs) to photograph some students from a local belly dancing school called Bedouin Beats. We were lucky enough to have four great dancers who offered to dance as we snapped away. I never did portrait photography and I actually really enjoy it. Some of the people in my group are pretty hardcore- they had black backdrops, back lighting, light meters, light reflectors and some other things I have no idea what they did. I learned a lot about posing models and things you don't want to do when you photo shoot. I'll share a few with you: try to shoot women from the side, it slims them down, shoot men head on, it makes them look more masculine, don't pose hands too far in front of someone as it makes their limbs looks very big and distorted, and finally don't wear glittery makeup on photo shoot. They neglected to tell one women this and boy was a editing a pain. White spots EVERYWHERE!!! Anyway, here are some of the shots I took. Feel free to comment, critique, or just plain old enjoy. This weekend I'm going to another photo meetup to take night photos. I'll share them as soon as I have them edited.
