1. Everything gets a little more challenging to do: climbing stairs, running, getting out of bed, putting on your shoes
2. People start to feel comfortable congratulating you on your pregnancy even though you haven't told them but by 20 some odd weeks it's pretty clear than you are and just haven't put on a few lbs. Sometimes it's fun to joke with them and reply with "I'm pregnant?"
3. This seems to be the period of most change- I went from feeling nothing to feeling bubbles to feeling limbs kicking me. It's still my favorite part of pregnancy.
4. Eventually the exercise you enjoy will not be enjoyable anymore due to the additional pressure it puts on your abdomen. It's okay to opt for a new form of exercise even if it's not the most enjoyable thing. Don't let others convince you to just let yourself go. Exercise is good for you and for baby.
5. Your productivity isn't what it once was-don't beat yourself up over it- you're pregnant and working hard in other areas. Unfortunately this doesn't help a thesis to get written or data to get collected :(
6. There is finally relief from nausea but still will come on if you go a while without eating, if you lift too much, or you're excessively tired.
7. You will eventually get used to sleeping on your left side if you don't already. It's really not so bad if you have pillows all around you.
8. The most nerve racking thing is that 18 wk ultrasound when they tell you how your baby's vital organs are developing
9. Although you know you will gain weight it's hard in the very beginning to watch the scale go up and accept the way your body will change. After you are comfortable with that, your focus is gaining the appropriate amount each week. Despite eating up a storm, I'm still on the low end of my weight gain.
10. Maternity pants are the most comfortable thing and are pretty stylish as well along with the other clothes
11. People want you to create a baby registry so they know what to get you and the little one (point taken so we registered at sears.ca and babiesrus.ca). Don't feel obligated to get us anything, it's just for those that have asked and want to)
12. Shop for baby furniture in advance- it may take some time to get shipped in. Changing tables seem like a waste- a dresser with a changing pad seems like it'll work fine
13. The bathroom has becomes your 2nd most frequent place to spend your time
14. You start to miss alcohol more even if you're not a big drinker- a glass a wine would be nice with dinner, you think.
15. There is much to look into- car seats, cribs, and strollers and the more you look the more confusing it gets! Do I get a Bob stroller or a Chariot. It must be good maneuvering in the snow!!
16. Ultrasounds are necessary but so uncomfortable. Having to go to the bathroom a lot already and then being asked to drink 1 L of water an hour before the appointment and have to hold it for an additional 30 minutes while they probe you. Torture!!
17. People want nothing more than to see what you look like pregnant especially if they are far away. Give them what they want but do it tastefully (ie. no selfies or bare bellies on FB)
Mitch and I also celebrated our 3 year anniversary last Thursday. I made fondue on our actual anniversary and then we went to a nice French restaurant this weekend called the Creperie and after saw a performance at the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra which featured the orchestra as well as a guest pianist who played Rachmaninoff. She played 100% from memory- no sheet music. I marvel at the talent these musicians possess.
We are starting to fill our new house with furniture- we got a couch for downstairs and in a few weeks we'll have the rest of the set as well as a dining room table to sit 8-10 as well as a nice chandelier. We anticipate lots of guests this summer and hopefully in the future.
Here are some pics from our anniversary and over the last month or so.

I loved photographing this guy. Never seen blue eyes on a tabby cat before. Very sweet as well!
handsome guy and his pillow seemed to match his eyes
this girl is a part domestic long hair and ragdoll...again never seen a calico color with blue eyes
this pretty girl is what they call an odd eye cat...a genetic variation that makes one eye one blue and the other a different color. Stunning!
