This year marked the 5th Annual Miles For Moffit 5 mile, 5K, and 1 mile races. This is the first time I had run this race and heard about it only two weeks ago. Moffitt is the local cancer hospital and ranked 10th in the nation. There is nothing I enjoy more than running and also contributing to a wonderful cause. Over 5,000 people I guess felt the same way as me. The things I saw that day were so incredibly moving and inspiring...a man in front of me running the race in his survivor t-shirt, a man running with a t-shirt with a picture of his daughter holding his granddaughter that read "in memory of my daughter who lost her battle," or a paralyzed woman using a recumbent bike for the five mile race (a very grueling task). All the proceeds goes to their research center. I ran the race (and did very well 37:27 for 5 miles) for all those I know who have fought and continue to fight their battle against cancer. I believe in my heart of hearts a special someone was looking down on me :) Pics hopefully will be coming soon
